                                                         THE CALL

       Prelude

  * Call to Worship

      L:  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name!

      P:  For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is God’s steadfast love

           toward those who fear God.

      L:  Let us worship God.

 *  Invocation Prayer

     *  Hymn  # 138                 ‘Praise, My Soul, The King Of Heaven’      (Bendic Anima)

     *  Prayer of Confession  -- O God, our Rock and Redeemer, hear our confession.

              We worship idols of our own making; when temptation overtakes us we submit

              to its charm.  We fund it easier to grumble at hardships than to praise You for

              mercies we receive day by day.  We test You in every way.  Yet You promise

              that You will not test us beyond our endurance.  Forgive us when we take

              advantage of Your loving nature, and restore us to communion with You.

     *  Assurance of Pardon

Sponsor a Guest Musician:  The Music Committee has recently formulated a policy whereby over the church year members of the congregation are invited to make donations to defray the costs of special guest musicians who from time to time, enhance the worship service here at First Baptist.  These donations can be made in honor or memory of a person or to mark a special event in a person’s life – like a birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc.  The usual  “high Sundays” of the church year will be brought to the congregation’s attention as dates which people may designate donations. But congregants may also make donations to the Music Fund to highlight any Sunday of their choosing.  The congregation may remember the uplifting music the Nova Brass Quintet brought to our service last Easter Sunday, and we will welcome them back again this Easter Sunday.  Members of the congregation who would like to make a donation to help defray the costs of the Nova Brass Quintet for Easter Sunday should call the Church Office.
